Planning for a road trip is more than finding a route and places to stop along the way. These are a few things that we took as a just in case. An actual road atlas, you may think with google maps and gps you don't need an old school map anymore. You'd be wrong. In some places signal isn't great or google wants you to change highways 27 times. A real map came in handy much more than I expected. A solar powered emergency radio, when traveling through hurricane and tornado prone parts of the country a radio could be a lifesaver. We got lucky and missed a lot of crazy storms. A multi-tool, we used this a few times, mostly for the screwdriver but I'd definitely have no problem grabbing it if we had broken down on a creepy road for self defense either. Oh, peoper spray for self defense! And finally a first-aid kit. They come in different sizes at Target this one fit under the seat or in the glovebox and had a few band-aids used along the way. #bigassroadtrip #safetyfirst #beprepared #roadtrip #ontheroad
